There are certain products that are so ingrained in my beauty memory that I will try almost any and everything that they produce. Pantene was always one of the few products that lived outside of the ethnic hair care aisle, but was still an approved staple in my mother's product closet. I didn't pay much attention to how the product worked back then, I just loved that it made my hair smell like white girl hair.
You know what I mean, right?
If you don't, then I'll put it like this. The smell of hair grease usually overpowers the smell of shampoo and conditioner, so as a brown girl, we are used to our hair taking on the smell of whatever oil or grease or butter that we are putting in our hair, not so much the shampoo. But Pantene? I could always smell it, no matter what was applied after.
Pantene was one of my staples during my transition to natural hair. Since then, they've come out with a line specifically designed for natural hair - Pantene Truly Natural. I recently tried the line and I'ma tell you all about it.
Pantene Clarifying Shampoo
I know that I'm supposed to clarify my hair periodically to get rid of build up, but I rarely do. I loved this shampoo because my hair felt very clean, but not too squeaky and certainly not stripped. I started with 2 week old hair that I detangled before I got in the shower. While I would not use this shampoo every time I wash, I would definitely recommend for a once a month deep wash. Pantene also offers a Co-Wash Cleansing Conditioner, and while I didn't review it this time around, I've used it before and I love it. It's perfect for those off weeks when you just want to refresh with a light cleanse between shampoos.
Pantene Deep Conditioner
This was my favorite. I had high expectations and fortunately the Deep Conditioner did not disappoint. I've used many different variations of Pantene conditioners and they are always thick and hearty with great slip. I applied the conditioner to my hair in sections and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I detangled with my fingers and a wide-tooth comb. A+.

Pantene Defining Curls Custard
I really wanted to like the custard, but I had mixed feelings about it. The product is formulated to define curls and control frizz. With that in mind, it would probably be better suited for someone who wears wash and go's. Not your girl. I tried it on my stretched braid out, but it honestly felt like an extra step. It wasn't moisturizing, and I'm not worried about definition or frizz so we didn't quite hit it off. But I can't say that I completely didn't like it because it smelled amazing. If you like wash and go's, try this one.
Pantene Shine Serum with Argan Oil
I used the serum to seal my ends and I also rubbed it into my hands as I took my braids out the day after the wash. It gave my hair a nice shine that lasted all day, and of course that signature fragrance that I love. Using shine serum is always an extra step to me, not a necessity, but it's nice to have if you're looking for an alternative to oils to add sheen to your hair and seal in moisture.
