"As soon as I catch myself wishing I looked like someone else or had someone else's hair or shape I reach out and extend a compliment. We're all beautiful in our own right and I also try to remember that someone could be looking at me wishing the same thing. So I don't wallow or diminish my own self worth. I just remember to keep myself up and embrace my own beauty."
*What is your skin type and what are your must-have products to care for your skin?
I would say that I have combination skin. To be honest I am still figuring out what products work for my skin. Currently I am using Neutrogena Foaming Face Wash & Make up Remover and Neutrogena ultra gentle soothing lotion.
What is your favorite everyday make up look and what cosmetics do you use to achieve it?
My favorite everyday makeup look takes about 15 minutes and I use extremely inexpensive products to achieve it. I do a simple gold smokey eye with a clean defined eyebrow and nude lip majority of the time.

Is your hair natural, relaxed, loc'd or otherwise and what is your go-to favorite style?
My hair is natural and I did my last big chop in May of 2012 while I was pregnant with my daughter. I knew that I wanted to raise her to love her natural curls so I decided to go back natural so that I could show her by example. My favorite style is a twist out with my hair styled into an updo.
What are your staple hair products and/or processes that keep your hair at its best?
I currently rely heavily on my own shea butter mix I make at home. It has olive oil, coconut oil and almond oil mixed in with pure shea butter. I try to deep condition once every other week to really restore my hair. I combine this with healthy hair practices like always sleeping with a scarf, regular moisturizing, drinking water and careful manipulation.
What is your favorite trait or physical feature about yourself? Also, what is your favorite personality trait about yourself?
My favorite physical trait would be eyes. I feel like I have pretty eyes. (lol) As far as my fave personality trait, I'd def say my sense of humor because I'm able to make people laugh with little to no effort.
What insecurities do you have or have you had about your physical appearance and how do you overcome?
From a young age I always disliked the fact that I was so slim with small breasts. I have learned to tell myself that I am beautiful according to my own standard because if I measure myself up against society's standards I'll forever find myself lacking. It's definitely still a process but my head space is so much more positive than it was in my younger years.
How do you avoid comparing yourself to other women, feeling envious and uncertain about your unique beauty?
To avoid being envious I compliment other women. As soon as I catch myself wishing I looked like someone else or had someone else's hair or shape I reach out and extend a compliment. We're all beautiful in our own right and I also try to remember that someone could be looking at me wishing the same thing. So I don't wallow or diminish my own self worth. I just remember to keep myself up and embrace my own beauty.
What advice would you give to your 18 year old self about hair care, makeup and beauty self-esteem?
I would tell myself to work the heck out of being slim instead of spending my high school days waiting for breasts to arrive and wishing I looked like everyone. I would also encourage myself to go natural and embrace my individuality.
What makes you feel beautiful?
I seriously love being natural and it makes me feel so great and empowered that I was bold enough to embrace my natural hair texture.
