In summary, last night we talked about: The strengths, differences, and perceived weaknesses we carry and the quiet grief that often comes with growth. We talked about how our differences can be sources of power if we think creatively and view them through a different lens.
Both strengths and perceived weaknesses can become superpowers when we explore them from all sides—the light and the shadow—so we can harness our awareness and use our unique qualities and circumstances strategically.
An important point to remember here is that we can't rush ourselves into finding meaning or benefit in a wound—or in any painful experience, identity difference, or valley we’ve walked through—before we're truly ready. There’s no shortcut through grief, discomfort, or confusion, and trying to force a silver lining too soon can actually deepen the disconnection. That said, as writers and creatives, we do have the power to be in relationship with that energy in a different way. Even when clarity or resolution feels far off, we can still channel the rawness, the questions, and the complexity into our art. We don’t have to wait for healing to begin expressing. In fact, that’s what we are here in this intensive to do: to engage in the act of creating to gently guide us through the healing and reclaiming. Your activity this week is to: Choose one of the Storytelling prompts from the writing guide to help you go deeper in reflecting on your strengths and perceived weaknesses, and the grief that often accompanies growth and change. You can also feel free to go deeper with any of the exercises from this week to explore this pathway further.
At the beginning of our next session, we’ll take time to explore whatever you feel ready to share—whether it’s something you wrote or reflections on the process, including any efforts, challenges, or insights that emerged along the way.
