In this Practice Session, we'll learn a weaving exercise that involves moving back and forth between a personal experience and another subject. As we alternate between the two, we'll pay attention to the patterns, questions, and deeper connections that emerge.
This approach can be especially useful when writing about difficult experiences. By braiding a personal story with another thread, we can create perspective and distance while exploring the emotional truth of our experience. We can also discover new ways of understanding our stories and what they reveal about our connection to the larger world.
There will be time for writing, optional sharing, and discussion. You'll leave with new material and a new approach to writing hard things. This session is inspired by an exercise from Writing Hard Things by Nicole Miller. You can register here.
